Inspired by Maison Margiela Spring 1997 dummy, victorian undergarments and crinolines. The dress created is just a starting response to the polish government actions on limiting women rights regarding abortion. It uses the mock up, calico fabric, which is often used in fashion to create clothing patterns and sample products. Calico being the purest and raw fabric felt like a good choice for the project, as the aim of this dress was to mimic the human skin and act as a protective shield for the woman. The visible crinoline reference highlights the women history in the 1800s, when their rights were restricted and dominated by the male population, not being able to vote, wear pants, smoke or even go shopping without a male escort.
